He also takes the reader on a 30,000-foot overview of a battle about to take place before dropping us down into the action. Freeland’s aim is for his trilogy to explore how this country treats its warriors and veterans during and after our wars. With Book One, The Patriarch, he’s off to a good start." - Bill McCloud - Vietnam Veterans of America "Crawl through the trenches of France with American infantrymen and experience the horrendous brutality of WWI warfare … reminiscent of the carnage in Civil War battle scenes in The Red Badge of Courage. Then follow the “doughboys” as they assimilate back into American society, often with heartbreaking and unforgettable outcomes.” - Jameson Gregg, Benjamin Franklin Award Winner and Georgia Author of the Year In his hometown in Wellington Ohio, Sam McCormick is on a path to follow in his father’s footsteps, leading a life of hard work as a factory manager. But in 1915, Sam loses his parents when the Lusitania is sunk by a U-boat. Soon after, Sam is called up during World War I as an infantryman with the Army’s American Expeditionary Forces and the first division to be sent to France to battle the very forces that killed his loved ones. Now Sam’s aim is to seek vengeance for his parents’ death. He must survive brutal gas attacks, rapid machine gun fire, and relentless artillery strikes. As he and his troops repeatedly cross into “no man’s land” to take over German trenches, he will cross paths with notable leaders such as General Pershing, General Douglas MacArthur, Colonel George Patton, and Sergeant York, one of the most highly decorated American soldiers of WWI. But Sam’s attitude changes as the war drags on, and the body count rises. Now Sam just wants the killing to stop. When he is wounded, he finds hope again to rebuild a life with his bride Marie, a witty and intelligent French nurse. But when he returns home, the United States that he loved as a civilian looks far different after the war as a veteran. Sam McCormick must become The Patriarch. His family and way of life depend on it. A tale of courage, sacrifice, love and honor, this 20th Century historical fiction saga addresses the horrors of WW1 and the challenges that military men faced upon returning including mental trauma, and physical illness in addition to the hardships of the Great Depression as well as other historical events before WWII, including the Bonus Army March of 1932 and the Little Steel Strikes of 1937. ![]() “Freeland is an absolute master of flight-combat narrative; a decorated veteran of air combat in Vietnam; his ability to put the reader in the seat of a B-17 beset by German fighter planes and anti-aircraft fire, is superb … A novel of wartime bombing missions that makes for gripping reading." — Kirkus Reviews In Book Two of the Legacy of Honor trilogy, Sean McCormick, the son of the Patriarch from Book One, embarks on a journey of physical and moral courage as he is commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant, completes pilot training in 1943, and is sent to England to fly B-17s with the 8th United States Army Air Force in WWII. Book Details: Book Title: THE GHOST OF TOM MIX by Julian Doyle Category: Adult Fiction (18+), 161 pages Genre: Comedy Publisher: Chippenham Books Release date: March 2025 Tour dates: June 23 to July 11, 2025 Content Rating: PG
Book Description:
BLAZING SADDLES meets THE PRODUCERS in this hilarious tale of film-making. German Film Director Heinz Fane wants to bring old Joshua Johnson out of retirement to star in a Western. Josh, was once a man who walked tall through Tombstone, now he walks with a slight stoop through the corridors of an actor’s retirement home. Physically he's fine; it's just his soul that's heading for the last round up. On location, a hundred miles from the nearest town. The unit has set up in an ecological disaster area. The collection of trucks and trailers looks as out of place as a space capsule on the moon. J.D. Shaw, the producer hoped the whole thing could be shot in six weeks but things have gone wrong. The heat is debilitating and the old Indian wrangler, Horse-in-Clouds, is a disaster, a full-blooded Kiowa, who has been shot off more horses than he had had sober mornings. And Josh is slowly losing it. Sometimes he stops halfway through a sentence and stares blankly ahead. It's either the heat or the mushrooms that Horse keeps feeding him on toast. Or maybe it's just the contradiction between the West Josh helped to create and the modern Western with it's slow motion violence and explicit sex scenes with the Italian leading lady, who just arrived from a bit part in 'Roman Games'. “It ain’t like the old days” pleads Josh to the glowing specter of Tom Mix. “I want to live by the code but they want me to curse and shoot at fella’s in the back.” But Tom just frowns in disappointment “A man’s got to make a stand sometimes, Josh, a stand for the things he believes in.” Before Josh can answer Tom fades away only to return to haunt the old cowpoke. 'It is only when a man is confronted with violence that you see his true worth.' justifies the director for the gross scenes of violence in the film. These lines will return to haunt him as Josh finally flips and becomes an Avenging Angel firing real bullets and reliving his 1947 hit ‘Badmen’s Spurs’. He wreaks havoc on the crew and challenges the Producer to the final shoot out. They draw..........

"Sherlock Holmes meets the Da Vinci Code in a gripping murder mystery." - Daily Express
"Is this the most extraordinary Holmes Adventure ever written? The answer is 'elementary'" - The Sun
Book Description:
At last, the incredible account of Sherlock Holmes’ investigation into the brutal murder of Canon Alfred Lilly and the secrets of the Jericho Manuscript can finally be published. Although Holmes’ faithful friend, Dr. John Watson, gave strict instructions that his account should not be released till a hundred years after his death, it has not made the astonishing discoveries any less explosive now as they were when written in 1901. It was 24th June, when the Rev. David Adams discovered his friend Canon Alfred Lilly dead at his desk in a pool of blood. The police considered it suicide, but the Rev. Adams refused to accept the verdict and employed the celebrated detective to locate the murderer and the missing Jericho Manuscript that Lilly had been translating. The hunt for the killer takes Holmes and Watson to Paris where an encounter with mystic composer, Claude Debussy and his symbolist friends, not only leads to Holmes unravelling the secret history of Notre Dame Cathedral but forces the chase south to the birthplace of Nostradamus and the fortified town of Carcassonne. At the mysterious Magdalene church at Rennes-le-Châteaux, Holmes uses all his observational skills to decipher the heretical statues recently erected by the local priest, Abbé Saunière. Clues lead the intrepid detective and his excitable friend to the Monastère de Prouilhe, the centre of the dreaded Dominican monks who supervised the horrifying tortures and burnings of thousands of innocent Christian Cathars in the area. Can Sherlock Holmes use his special talents to extract from these monks the final link to the Jericho Manuscript and the monumental secrets it contains? The game’s afoot in an unmissable thriller that breaks through from fascinating fiction to extraordinary reality. As we unravel the secrets of the Jericho Manuscript, never forget Sherlock Holmes famous axiom, “Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth”

We’ve explored multiple strategies and worked with other virtual tour companies, but none delivered the exposure and quality of reviews that iRead provided. They made the entire process seamless and enjoyable. We highly recommend iRead Book Tours to any author or publisher looking to make a real impact." - Robyn Fonrose, Marketing Manager, New Classics Publishing
