Book Details: Book Title: SISTER ACTS by Sharon Adelman Reyes Category: Adult Fiction (18+), 448 pages Genre: Women's Contemporary Fiction Publisher: Lake Grove Press Release date: August 2025 Formats Available for Review: print (print - softback / USA and Canada), ebook (EPUB, PDF) Tour dates: Oct 27 to Nov 21, 2025 Content Rating: PG: Very mild profanity, mild romantic scene with some kissing.
Book Description:
Four sisters. Four clashing personalities. Four different ways of living in the world. Sister Acts explores the impact of loss on three generations of one family –- in particular, the degree to which, to paraphrase Phyllis Chesler, women are capable of inhumanity toward other women. At times heartbreaking and at times hilarious, the novel illuminates the resilience that can come from knowing one’s roots and the estrangement that can result from trying to escape them. Sophie Malinsky’s sudden death leaves her Left-wing Jewish family in disarray. Rather than bringing her young daughters closer, the loss creates a tangle of jealousies and recriminations. Rose, the eldest, recognizing their father’s limitations, at first tries to become a surrogate mother for her three sisters. But they resent her efforts, each one channeling – or repressing – her grief in a different way. In the absence of Sophie’s love and guidance, two sisters lose their way. Naomi moves to Mexico and tries to shed her Jewish identity. Betti ends up in Nashville pursuing a dream, never realized, of stardom as a rockabilly musician. A fourth sister, Marla, strives for dominance from an early age. Her jealousy of Rose leads to a toxic rivalry that persists well into middle age, affecting their own daughters as well. Lurking behind the conflicts is a family secret that Sophie had planned, but failed, to reveal. Decades later, when Rose finally uncovers it, the Malinskys’ saga finally comes into sharp focus.

Meet the Author:
Ten year old Dave Tabler decided he was going to read the ‘R’ volume from the family’s World Book Encyclopedia set over summer vacation. He never made it from beginning to end. He did, however, become interested in Norman Rockwell, rare-earth elements, and Run for the Roses. Tabler’s father encouraged him to try his hand at taking pictures with the family camera. With visions of Rockwell dancing in his head, Tabler press-ganged his younger brother into wearing a straw hat and sitting next to a stream barefoot with a homemade fishing pole in his hand. The resulting image was terrible. Dave Tabler went on to earn degrees in art history and photojournalism despite being told he needed a ‘Plan B.' Fresh out of college, Tabler contributed the photography for “The Illustrated History of American Civil War Relics,” which taught him how to work with museum curators, collectors, and white cotton gloves. He met a man in the Shenandoah Valley who played the musical saw, a Knoxville fellow who specialized in collecting barbed wire, and Tom Dickey, brother of the man who wrote ‘Deliverance.’ In 2006 Tabler circled back to these earlier encounters with Appalachian culture as an idea for a blog. AppalachianHistory.net today reaches 375,000 readers a year. Dave Tabler moved to Delaware in 2010 and became smitten with its rich past. He no longer copies Norman Rockwell, but his experience working with curators and collectors came in handy when he got the urge to photograph a love letter to Delaware’s early heritage. This may be the start of something. connect with the author: website ~ X ~ facebook ~ pinterest ~ instagram ~ goodreads

"iRead Book Tours has been the most effective and rewarding marketing experience we've had. We’ve explored multiple strategies and worked with other virtual tour companies, but none delivered the exposure and quality of reviews that iRead provided. Our only regret is allocating too much of our marketing budget elsewhere. The iRead Book Tours team are true professionals; organized, efficient, and an absolute pleasure to work with. They made the entire process seamless and enjoyable. We highly recommend iRead Book Tours to any author or publisher looking to make a real impact." - Robyn Fonrose, Marketing Manager, New Classics Publishing
At New Shelves Books, I regularly recommend iRead Book Tours to authors and publishers because Lauren and her team consistently overdeliver. Their well-organized tours provide impactful blog features, reviews, and social media buzz that go beyond expectations. For a book tour that truly makes a difference, iRead is the way to go!
- Keri-Rae Barnum, Book Marketing Expert, New Shelves Books Not only does Lauren do a fantastic job of organizing the tour and communicating with you at every step of the way, but I found the tour hosts that signed up for her tour to be of a higher caliber. The reviews that I got on this tour were thoughtful and well-written and I noticed an uptick in sales during this tour. I also appreciated the fact that many of her tour hosts that wrote reviews posted them on multiple sites, not just on their blog or Instagram account. This is invaluable to an author. I highly recommend Lauren and iReads Book Tours. - Allyson Rice, author of The Key to Circus-Mom Highway
Lauren Carr's iReads Book Tour is amazing! She gets real results. Not only did I get thousands of new eyes on my series, but I grew my following on all social media channels as well. Lauren has a dedicated group of reviewers and bloggers who are competent and reliable - no more wasted ARCs mailed out with no results.
